You may be wondering what counseling (therapy) is all about. As we start this journey together, we will have an initial intake meeting so that we can get to know one another and discuss what it is that brought you to counseling. I'll spend time with you asking questions that will help me understand your personal history including your medical and family history, your current situation, and any symptoms or feelings you may be experiencing. We will also talk about what you hope to gain from counseling and the changes you would like to see in your life as a result of counseling. This first meeting will take about an hour and a half.


Our future meetings together will last about 45 minutes each, and we will discuss how you've been doing since the last time we were together. Throughout our counseling relationship, we will decide on some goals or outcomes for you, and discuss ways that you can achieve those goals. I will help you uncover the strengths you have buried deep inside you so that you can use these strengths to face your current challenges and those you will encounter in the future. My hope for you is that you feel empowered to manage whatever life throws your way by using those past experiences and the strengths that have gotten you this far in life.
